For some odd years the Los Angeles car shop has made a car challenge, where you make a dedign of a car that you would like to have in the future or a car that you want built. So the car that you design shouldent have so many of earths materials so that you are helping the earth as well. So people had to make cars that were energy used and they had to be light weight no more then 1,000lbs and it had to be able to hold 4 passenger or more. 7 people went into the challenge and there are some pics below about the car a pic with the car. 

So the first car is a Honda Air, It is a electric car that had the inspired by the skydiving wing suits. The glass of the car is able to recycle and the cars metal and others are from a junk yard that were spray painted and the car is only 800lbs. The car has a vegetable based polymer panel.

The next car is made by Mercedes in Japan. The car is called Mayback DRS, the car is fully electric and the car is controlled by a computer that is plugged into a big city transport instructed. The cool thing about the car is that it can be pedaled by the man/ woman so that will driving it is giving you exercise. 

   The next car is a Mazda MX-0, the Mazda is also electric, the people who made this car had three things in there mind to make the car perfect zero weight, zero carbon emission and zero mass. To make the car they  had to use lightweight materials and the car has a super suspensor in the back. 

 

Design

So as you an see the car shops are trying to stop pollution and the destruction of our earth, so they are trying to make environmentally friendly cars that look super cool and that people will enjoy and will keep for the rest of there lives. I think that this paper of these cars is a great idea and if i had my license i would absolutely  get one of these cars.  

Green Plastic Reflection!

The plastics are being developed so that they can be recycled and so that we don't have to use that much in order to rap or to make something. 

A plastic is green if it can be recyclable or if it can be burned and then it can be put into another product or something. 


Some of the problems are that plastic is being used to much and in packages or on packages they are usiong plastic on parts where they don't need plastic or that much, another thing is that plastic that can not be recycled is thrown into a dump and then left there until it decomposes. 


It might become more popular and people will buy it more or it could become totally unpopular and no body will buy it and then the company will become broke.

Food inc reflection!!!

After watching the movie i thought how could people do this. Why would you do that to the animals, and i wondered how the people would feel if they were being treated like the animals. But the thing i found most disgusting is that they made the cows so heavy that they couldn't walk and they used the things to lift boxes to lift the cow.   

They said that with technology it gave the industries more power which made them kill more and they can do it a lot faster then before, because before they didn't have enough people so they couldn't go fast so they didn't kill that many animals and with technology they are feeding the animals out of machines unlike in the past they would feed the cows grass and they cows would be healthy and they wouldn't be any side effect/ killing in the process to people. 

Us humans control what happens to the earth and by doing all this killing and fattening it is affecting the earth a lot and we are the ones cosing it.  

I think that we should say NO now and stop using all this technology and go back to hard work but it makes the earth and the people a lot better and healthier.   

Natural farming is a lot better then technology farming because natural is not harming the animals like technology farming is and natural is a lot healthy and natural keeps bad battery and other thing away like if we were using natural instead of technology farming that little two year old wouldn't have died and he would have lived and have a happy life eating hamburgers and having fun.  

Technology farming is really bad and it doesn't matter how big the chicken is all that matters is that you have a chicken, and even thought its a small chicken you must think what will happen to the animals/ you if they use technology farming. 

I think that the film was really good and if everyone watches it then they will know and then the whole world will help go back to normal farming and then the world will be healthier, you  will be healthier and the animals will be healthier. 

The packaging project reflection!

The packaging project made me think and it taught me a lot about plastic and about paper and all the others. I also thin that this project taught the whole class about the environment and about garbage and what we do with it after we throw it away. My project taught me a lot and if i become a package builder i would make the packages worthy and us full and even if it has these two components it will still help the earth and it will save plastic and paper. Unlike in my package it wasted so much plastic that you could of taken off some and made a plastic container for lunch.
But now after the whole class presented, i think we will all be more environmentally friendly and we will watch what we buy and use.

Nintendo Ds!!!!!

Nintendo DS companies are doing a lot for people and the environment. For peoples heath the company has a work sheet that tells the instructions and then theres another sheet that tells you what might happen if you play to much or anything else. 

Nintendo DS is travailing around the world and helping teach people about our earth and what we are doing to it. Nintendo DS is working together with PlayStation company and these two industries are working to teach and make the world better. 

Some people and getting surges from playing video games and from watching tv, and there for companies are getting blamed for it when it it is not there fault.

Last year, 15 teams went out on there first quests, a 142 mile car race across a desert. But the thing was that the teams could not be in the car and they could not use remotes, the car had to drive itself. The cars had to be able to drive over any type of terrain and had to be able to go around obstacles. All the cars crash, stalled or burned, so the student had to re- think there strategies. Only five out of 23 finalist went 130 miles. The winners car did the course i 6 and his car maximum speed is 30 kilometers per hour. 

The cars are being examined by the army and some others but the army really wants theses cars for battle so that the dont risk as many solders as they did in all the other armies. The army tecno people are trying to add James bong features into the cars. The cars would also be used to transport hurt solders from place to place and to bring goods and medications to the bases, and they would do this if they used the cars. 

Experts were inspecting the car that won and he found 5 laser beam sensors on top of the car and computer software that would help make the car avoid obstacles. Experts also predict that soon maybe people might be using these cars and trucks to go to work and to use in the general life and it would make roads safer and easier in some way.     

I think that is would be awesome if we could go to school and other places with out a driver and i bet our parents would like to so they could relax will we go on long road trips, but one thing i am not sure of it what about our drivers what would happen to there jobs and how would they get money but other then that it is so cool and i think it could really help the world in war and in general.  

Reflection on glogster presentation

This reflection is going to be about my glogster page which i did a few weeks ago for a book that i read, the book is calles "Ravens Gate" the book is a non fiction book but it really makes your brain work in the sense it makes you pounder and its full of mysteries. Now lets go into the book.

The reason we made a glogster for our book is because we wanted to share and show all our interests in book and what they have to offer. My book is Ravens Gate it is a great book if you like mysteries and wild features like power, magic and other crazy fiction things. This book brought me rupture because it was interesting and once you start you can never stop reading it. The book was about a boy and his friend that went into a ware house that had a every game in the world and all of these games were not out in the stores yet so they wanted to get them before anyone else did. When they were in there a police man came and then the boys were dumbfounded and they went to jail for 2 days so that the get a punishment for what the did. The way i did the glogster page was revolved around death and blood most and that was the theme for the page, but the writing was pretty peace full and it was with blood or anything. I thought that the book and the glogster were great for me and i really enjoyed doing it and the best part was that i could show it to all my class mates, so they could understand and know what i am reading and learning in the book. But the only thing i didn't really like in the book was there were to many deaths, killing and blood all of those i dont like.

So from my reflection you should get a good sense of what my book is about and my feeling about the book and the whole project its self, hope you like the book if you ever read it after you read my reflection.

In the middle of February, Tom Gage was drove his car into a building in San Diego but he didn't crash his car, he was showing it off to people on the street and then a bunch of people crowded around the car. Gage's car is not a normal car it is on the is electric and you plug it into the wall, and right now usually people use gasoline or diesel. The car uses gasoline and electricity, the electricity is being provided to the car by this hug batteries in the car. Now car makers are trying to make cars that are electric cars that are really cool looking and that are affordable and make people happy.  

When Gage is not driving his car he plugs it into a special meter that is connected to a grid and that grid is connected to a power cable and power station that is all over the United States that provides a

electricity to anyone in a particular place. Gage's has an idea that if enough people use the car, their batteries can be used to give the grid an extra boot. And then the cool thing is that when you give the grid power, when your car is low on battery the grid can give it more battery.  

I think that it is so cool that the car can be controlled by electricity and that the car can be re charged when low on battery, I thought thought that if the people who made the car make a commercial, then people might by it and they put some good info in that commercial. So i thought it was cool and that people should like it.  

Footprints in science!

Sustainability means, a person that can last for a long to or period. A way that I can lessen my footprint is by  eating foods that are sold locally and not eating foods that are from other countries like Brazil for fruit and Argentina for Coffee, another way i can lessen my footprint i could not use the car for short distance trips i could ride my bike or walk to that place. A human footprint is, a impact that you have on the earth. I think that the video was trying to make people stop using so much stuff that they dont need to do like eating food from other countries and using a bike and not a car. They were trying to reduce pollution and the amount of gas that is used for no reason.

A ecological footprint is a tool used to measure and understand how much nature we have and how much nature we use. Earth has a lot to do with our footprint, It could make electricity go away which means no TV, Facebook and no cell phones, if we dont eat local food and only food from out of the country we would lose the food in our country, If we dont take care of out garbage like recycling it then all the garbage would pollute our water and our whole earth, and finally if we dont take care of the amount of water we are using then it might all be gone because if you leave the water on while brushing your teeth you are wasting water, if you take really long showers just for the heck of it you are wasting water so we must look out and monitor the amount of water we use. Something that makes an Eco footprint is what your impact on the earth, like running the water when brushing your teeth another one is when you leave all the light on when you dont need it.

Our family footprint would be:

• We turn off the light when not needed.
• We dont leave the water running when brushing teeth nor taking a shower.
• We also turn down heat during the night not to waste fuel.
• We bring our own bags to the store so that we dont need to get new bags.
• And some of our family member do flush the toilet which is saving water (SOFIA) 
• We wish that Serbia and other countries would make it easier to recycle paper and plastic bags.
• When going on short distance trips we use bikes or we walk when ever  possible.

A group of scientist are looking at milk and why it was made. These scientist are going back thousands of years back when people could only get milk by squeezing cows, horses and other animals milk sack. They are looking who was the first milk drinker, and they are using there questions to guide them, for example;  why do so many people today still get sick from drinking milk? 

The scientist say that finding out about milk could also help answer, how did they keep the milk good and drink able with out refrigerators? Investigator and detectives are also trying to figure out about milk and they are using more then one method. They are also trying to figure out how the people could digest the milk. Mark thomas says that, "Milk was probably the first superfood" he also says, "having the ability to drink milk is remarkable."

In the US most people drink cow milk, but in other countries people mostly drin k goat, sheep, camels and horse milk. Mostly in Northern and Central Europe are able to drink milk. Unlike in Africa, Asia and southern America they dont eat or drink dairy product because it leads t diarea and other stomach problems. 

I think it was fun learning how and were milk started and who and why people cant drink or eat dairy products. I never new that milk was so hard to drink for some people because i would think it would be easy because it is a liquid and it isn't that har to drink it and it just goes strait down.

In California a student from a University is checking on frogs every day and one day he found a very unusual behavior between the frogs. He found that when he first started examining this group they were all acting or are males but now some of the frogs are acting like females. The students think that, there is a chemical in the tank that is changing them. The thing is a weed killer called atrazine, and ever since the frogs were birth the frogs have been living in this tant with this water. 

A student says that 30% of the frogs that were born there they were male and those guys were atrazine and they turned into females, and they are somehow sending a signal to males to come and mate. This weed killer that the farmers spray it goes don the plant and then affects the water and it drifts down it and then stays of the surface and then it affects the frogs. 

The students say the 40 of the frogs that live in the water have atrazine and that before they turned into girls the frogs already had girl hormones. 

The students say it is important to know how chemicals can affect an animal. 

I think that this article was super interesting and that it would help people learn in science and help them learn about how a frogs life works. I also liked in this article how it told me what the student felt, thought and how they examined the frogs.

Mars is the forth biggest plant circling the sun in the solar System. Mars got its name from a roman god he was the god of war. Mars has a nick name "Red Planet". Mars has similar seasonal cycle as earth. Smooth Borealis in the norther hemisphere covers 40% of the planet.  

Until the first flight by mars in 1965, by Mariner 4, a lot of people wondered if there was water on mars. They looked for water in light and dark patches, mostly in the polar latitudes which are by seas and continents. Out of all the planets Mars is most likely to harbor liquid, and harbor life. People think that mars had a large amount of water on it. 

Mars has two moon, Phobos and Deimos, these two are small and irregular. They might be asteroids, like in 5261 in Eureka. NASA thinks that in the southern polar ice caps have been receding. 

I think that mars is a cool planet and i first heard about it when i say the candy. I never new that mars had two moons and that mars used to have water, because i heard that there was never water and never will be water on mars. Other then mars i would like to learn about other planets as well.

In Papua New Guinea in the mountains archaeologists have found the most remarkable things. They have found stone tools plants remains, and this is in the early 49,000 years ago and people lived 2,000 meter or 1.2 miles above sea level. 50,000 years ago some type of human lived on what we call earth and lived in savannas, rain forests in southeastern Asia's land. 

They have figured out that they have crossed oceans on some kind of ocean craft or boat this was about 10,000 years ago. Archaeologists think early humans spread from Africa to Sahul along the cost and live at low altitudes. Some archaeologists thing are acting nomadic moving from place to place and then after a few years move back to the place were they started. They also found some evidence that they also lived at high altitudes. They say finding modern humans is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. They have used radio carbon to see the dates and they have found a part of a human that is 41,400 years old. They also have found sharp objects that they are guessing is used for spires or knifes to kill animals of to protect them selfs from predators.   

I think that this article is really interesting and that it will  help me with humanities and might help me with science because of the thing they say. But i really enjoyed reading and making an current event on it.

Two days ago scientists have discovered something new that doctors could ground- up cockroaches brains and then the brain has something in that fight diseases and infections. cockroaches have a compound that can kill E, you can get E by eating food or drinking something. E can cause infection, and that means your going to the hospital. Scientists have also seen that is the middle east there are these bugs called Locusts which is a type of grass hopper and they some how keep infections away. And this bug goes into the most disgusting places like died peoples tissue, in sewage, in drainage pipes and now scientists are trying to figure out how do they fight of the bacteria and parasites. 

And Locust and cockroaches have some kind of  infection killer in there blood. Scientists say its to early to go to a drug store and say i want cockroach but maybe later in the year cockroach might help humans fight infections.

I thought that this was a really interesting article and that if the scientist can pull it of to make cockroach brains help human fight infections.

This article is about how some animals and plants behave in there climate. All plants have a different way to protect them self for other animals/ life forms. For example, the Venus fly trap it has sharp teeth so it can kill predators that try to harm it, or the cactus it has over a thousand thorns so that animals cant eat it or stuff like that. When plants are being eaten by Caterpillars or something the saliva makes the plant have a "help me" signal so that other insects can come to rescue it.

When plants have taken damage they have a thing called "green leaf volatiles," or known as "GLV." GLV is when plants have been cut a send out an oder. Two scientist, Silke Allmann who works at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Science in Amsterdam, Netherlands and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jene, Germany and Ian Baldwin of the Max Plank Institute for Chemical Ecology, Have figured out that GLVs can spread a very signals, especially when it related to tobacco plants, Nico attenuate.

The scientist have found out that when the tobacco horn worm caterpillars, Manduca sexta, the Caterpillar saliva makes a change in the plants system. But when this happens a different insect comes and eats the horn worms eggs and larvae and when it does that it is protecting the plant. 

But the scientist say that they need more time to find out my does the Caterpillar saliva make other insects come to the scene. 

I found this article really interesting in sense of telling a lot about the insects and what they do when people aren't staring at the animals. I learned a lot from this article for example i never knew that a animals Silva can make other animals come to help or rescue the animals/ insect.  

Survival

If you want to survive in any climate you have got to these 3 senses hearing, sight and taste. There are three was to be born in egg form, living form and marsupial form. There are 4 ways of communicating echolocation, howling, Barking, Whining etc. What animals use to survive or to eat: the fox it plays died and then when bird come to investigate it attacks them, the snapper turtle keeps his mouth open and he has a tongue that looks likes a worm so fishes go to eat it and when the fish is in its mouth he closes his mouth and eats it.

What i learned in the movie is that our lives are so much easier then animals lives because they have to hunt to eat while we just go to the super market and they have to look out for poachers and they also have to protect them selfs from other animals.

Living things and the Enviorment

1. The environment gives food, water and shelter for humans and animals to use.
2. When it is growing and when it excretes waste.
3. one= ORGANISMS two= POPULATION three= COMMUNITY and four= ECOSYSTEM.
4. Because some organisms can only live in certain places for example if one organism live in a really hot climate like Africa and an other organism lived in the Arctic, If you take the organism thats lives in Africa and move it to Arctic and if you took the one that lives in the arctic and moved it to Africa the two organisms would die because they are not used to living in that climate.
5. Well in the winter most animals hibernate in the homes until spring starts, but before that animals the whole summer collect food and make a storage and they eat that food during the winter.

If we took away the trees from there the lions will survive but i dont think all the other animals will. But if we took all the other animals away and the grass the lions would die because theres no food and because they would get way to hot.

Science

Science is a awesome subject. It has a lot of interesting things to learn and to see. For example: you get to learn how to dissect and explode thing which in a kids mind that is the best thing to do in science, well that is what i think. It is also really cool to listen to science song like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at_f98qOGY0 etc. Science is a really good class for Halloween because of the spiders, lizards, snakes and rats.     

My goals

1: I want to stay organized the whole year.

2: I want to accomplish all my work on time and do my work with all my effert.

3: Get good grades in tests and ingeneral.
